MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA - SEPTEMBER 6-7, 2008

Michigan City, Indiana is another exciting new stop for the 2008 TriAmerica National Series Tour.  Located just 50 minutes southeast of Chicago on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, TriAmerica Indiana Dunes is sure to be a memorable experience.  The swim takes place in the blue waters of Lake Michigan followed by a breathtaking bike race through the Indiana Dunes State Park.  The run is a flat out and back course overlooking Lake Michigan.  TriAmerica Indiana Dunes is certain to become a “must-do” race on your triathlon schedule!

AWARDS:
Super Sprint: No age group and overall awards, designed to be a family fun event. All finishers receive a Finisher Medallion

TriKidz: Awards presented to the overall male and female winner in both the Junior and Senior Division, and to the top three finishers in each individual age group. All finishers receive a Finisher Medallion.

TriAmerica Distance and Short Course: Awards presented to the top three overall finishers, top masters finisher, and the top five finishers in each age or specialty division. All finishers receive a Finisher Medallion.
TriAmerica Distance Relay: Awards presented to the top three teams in each of the following categories; all male, all female, and mixed.

SANCTION:
All TriAmerica events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon and all participants must show proof of current USAT membership or purchase a one day or annual license at check-in.  Visit USAtriathlon.org for more info.

Course Information

RACE DISTANCES:
New TriAmerica Distance — The featured event is our new TriAmerica distance triathlon with a 2K swim (1.24 miles), 60K bike (37.3 miles), and a 15 K run (9.3 miles).

Short Course Distance — Run in conjunction with the TriAmerica distance race, the short course distance will be 1/2 of the TriAmerica Distance: 1K swim (.62 miles), 30K bike (18.6 miles), and an 8K run (4.97 miles).

Super Sprint — Saturday morning’s Super Sprint Triathlon is designed to be short and fun, perfect for first timer and family participation. The Super Sprint distance will be a 200 yard swim - 6 mile bike - and a 2 mile run.

TriAmerica TriKidz — A mini triathlon just for kids ages 6-14! Juniors ages 6-10 will swim 100 yards, bike 3 miles and run 1/2 mile. Seniors ages 10-15 will swim 200 yards, bike 6 miles, and run 1 mile.

COURSES:

  • The swim is an open water swim in Lake Michigan. Wetsuit use is allowed.  
  • The bike takes place on beautiful country roads in the Indiana Dunes area. The Sunday short and long course triathlons will utilize a loop style course.
  • The run will be a flat out and back course along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
