BAY AREA HOUSTON, TEXAS - JUNE 14-15, 2008

Situated on western shoreline of Galveston Bay, 25 minutes south of Downtown Houston, sits the Greater Clear Lake area, the newest venue to join the 2008 TriAmerica Tour.  Clear Lake is an extraordinary place to  visit, a city with much to offer, friendly people, sunny weather, beautiful sunsets and cool, clear water. Bring the family, the recreational activities at Clear Lake are endless, sailing, boating, jet skiing,  water skiing, fishing, camping, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, photography, just to name a few.  Clear Lake is also the home of the NASA Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston, Houston's #1 Attraction, and the popular Kemah Boardwalk entertainment complex.

AWARDS:
Super Sprint: No awards, designed to be a family fun event. All finishers receive a Finisher Medallion

TriKidz: Awards presented to the overall male and female winner in both the Junior and Senior Division, and to the top three finishers in each individual age group. All finishers receive a Finisher Medallion.

TriAmerica Distance and Short Course: Awards presented to the top three overall finishers, top masters finisher, and the top five finishers in each age or specialty division. All finishers receive a Finisher Medallion.
TriAmerica Distance Relay: Awards presented to the top three teams in each of the following categories; all male, all female, and mixed.

SANCTION:
All TriAmerica events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon and all participants must show proof of current USAT membership or purchase a one day or annual license at check-in.
A photo ID is required at check-in.

Courses

DISTANCES:
New TriAmerica Distance — The featured event is our new TriAmerica distance triathlon with a 2K swim (1.24 miles), 60K bike (37.3 miles), and a 15 K run (9.3 miles).

Short Course Distance — Run in conjunction with the TriAmerica distance race, the short course distance will be 1/2 of the TriAmerica Distance: 1K swim (.62 miles), 30K bike (18.6 miles), and an 8K run (4.97 miles).

Super Sprint — Saturday morning’s Super Sprint Triathlon is designed to be short and fun, perfect for first timer and family participation. The Super Sprint distance will be a 200 yard swim - 6 mile bike - and a 2 mile run.

TriAmerica TriKidz — A mini triathlon just for kids ages 6-14! Juniors ages 6-10 will swim 100 yards, bike 3 miles and run 1/2 mile. Seniors ages 10-15 will swim 200 yards, bike 6 miles, and run 1 mile.

COURSES:

  • The swim is an open water swim in Clear Lake. The swim will utilize an in-warer start.  Wetsuits use is in accordance with USAT Rules.
  • The bike course is a flat and fast, out and back course surrounding the Johnson Space Center and and the Amand Bayou. The Sunday short and long course triathlons will utilize A 30K loop course.  Long course participants will complete two loops of the course.
  • The run will be a flat out and back course beginning and finishing through the quaint neighborhoods of Pasadena, with the majority of the run taking place on the Armand Bayou Hike and Bike Trail.
